Not only does the stigma of mental and substance abuse disorders compromise sufferers’ ability to find work, housing and opportunity, it also robs them of their self-esteem.

That’s why The Marysville Union is here to provide critical resources and a bridge to recovery.

Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Combine to Devastating Effect In Communities Across America

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in five Americans will experience a mental illness in a given year. Moreover 40 – 60% of people who suffer addiction will relapse. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) finds that nearly 30% of individuals who are chronically homeless suffer some form of mental illness, and 50% are also substance abusers. It may seem the odds are against you ever recovering.
